Some learning myths have been repeated so many times they’ve started to feel like facts. They are not.
Every field has its sacred cows. The assumptions that get passed down, rarely questioned, and then shape how we design, deliver, and defend our work. L&D is no exception. From beliefs about how adults learn, to assumptions about what makes training effective, to the unexamined logic behind why we build things the way we do, some of what the field takes for granted deserves a hard look.
This session is about naming the assumptions, questioning the evidence, and having an honest conversation about what we should probably stop saying and doing. What learning myths need to die?
What We Will Discuss
- Common L&D beliefs that don’t hold up under scrutiny
- Where these myths came from and why they’ve been so hard to shake
- The practical impact of building training on faulty assumptions
- What the evidence actually says and what we should be doing instead
